Public Archaeology

Since 2014, the University of Calgary has offered Public Archaeology Program which allows members of the public to get dirty and have hands on experience with archaeological excavation. Participants excavate alongside members of the Archaeological Field School at archaeological sites across southern Alberta, supervised by University of Calgary graduate students.

This year's program will take place within the City of Calgary in Nose Hill Park, with program days between May 16 and June 5 (M-F). We have a maximum of three program participants per day, and a 2-day maximum for each participant due to antiipcated high demand. To book your excavation days, please email our program coordinator at pubarky@ucalgary.ca.
